Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s Kahar and Tanwar Singhariya castes have been included in the central OBC List.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gave its approval for amendments in the Central List of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in respect of the state for making suitable amendments in the list by way of inclusion or correction of castes or communities as per the advices received from the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
As per the amendment, Uttarakhand’s Kahar and Tanwar Singhariya have been included in Central OBC list. The amendment will enable the persons belonging to these castes to avail the benefits of reservation in Central Government services and posts as well as in Central Educational Institutions as per the existing policy.
They will also become eligible for benefit under various schemes and scholarships of the Central Government which are at present available to persons belonging to the OBCs.
