Well that was a manic couple of hours. Nicki Minaj’s opening performance started the night off as a conciliatory affair with Taylor Swift on stage too. The Weekend was impressive live, as were Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
Demi Lovato sank rather than swam on the outdoor stage. Taylor Swift took away three Moonmen, including best video for Bad Blood. Nicki Minaj called out Miley Cyrus for making comments about her in the press.
Oh, yeah and Kanye West said he was going to run for president in 2020, and Miley Cyrus released her new album for free. Not too shabby then. MTV will be over the moon with that.
It had enough standout moments to dominate the news cycle for at least the next 24 hours. Cyrus was a success as host. The live performances were mostly spot on with only a couple of slip ups. A success.
