Chandigarh: Travel by city buses has become more convenient with the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) launching well-equipped low-floor Corona buses . The first set of 11 such AC buses was flagged off by UT Adviser Vijay Kumar Dev here on Wednesday from the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Sector 43, here.
The buses are equipped with a mike, a special buzzer near passenger seats to ask the driver to stop the bus, the GPRS and a rear camera. Four of these new buses are being run on the route to the new airport.
The Adviser said 60 such buses would be added to the CTU fleet by February next year. Of these, 70 would be AC buses. Appreciating CTU employees for working hard, he said incentives for them were in the offing.
