Dehradun: Student leader Naresh Kukreti climbed on a telecommunication tower in protest against a police lathi-charge on protesting students of DAV PG College and arrest of a few leaders here today. He demanded suspension of police officials involved in the incident.
Students of DAV College started protesting outside the principal’s office on Friday, as they came to know that he had returned after a long leave and was in the college.
The irked students tried to bring the principal forcibly out of his office and tried to break the gate of his office. However, the police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse them and arrested some student leaders. Some of the student leaders were injured in the lathi-charge.
Kukreti climbed on a telecommunication tower at Survey Chowk in protest against the police action. On the other hand, the police have taken control of the college and shut it till Monday.
The students have been demanding suspension of the principal on the charge of giving admissions in violation of university norms and alleged financial irregularities.
