Palampur: The police have booked the SDM, Jaisinghpur, under Section 306 of the IPC on the complaint of Madhu, wife of Vinay Kumar who was the driver of the SDM. The body of Vinay was found near his village in mysterious circumstances yesterday, who was later declared dead in the Civil Hospital.

Madhu alleged before the police that her husband had been harassed by the SDM for the past few days.

He was under stress which led to his death. She said he was being forced by the SDM to perform duties in late hours and also during holidays and whenever he refused to do so, he was given show-cause notices.

However, the SDM denied the allegations. He termed these allegations false, baseless and far from truth.

He said his driver was leaving the station without station leave daily. He only asked the driver to be punctual and also come to the office in time.
He said he neither harassed, nor tortured him. His staff were a witness and knew well about his working. He said an FIR registered against him was uncalled for.

He said no preliminary inquiry was conducted by the police before the registration of the FIR and he was never questioned, demanding cancellation of the FIR.

SHO, Palampur, Gurbachan Singh confirmed that a case under Section 306 of the IPC had been registered in the police station against the SDM and investigation was in progress.
