Long Queues Missing As Apple's iPhone SE and iPad Pro Go On Sale

. . No comments:
Apple's latest iPhone and iPad Pro went on sale today - but you may not have realised.

The snaking queues that last for days, the cheering and the general hype that have become synonymous with previous Apple product launches are noticeable in their absence.

Customers in the UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, US Virgin Islands and the US will be able to buy the iPhone SE today.

The phone is already on sale in China and Japan and will be available from stores across these countries as they open.

Apple launched its new smaller range of devices at an event on 21 March and the firm opened up pre-orders for iPhone SE and iPad Pro last Thursday.

The 4-inch iPhone starts at $599 in the US and £359 in the UK, while the 9.7-inch tablet is available to order for $599 in the US and £499 in the UK for the same sized model.

The devices are now available to buy from Apple stores, Apple resellers, online and from network operators.

It has only been six months since Apple's last release, which may explain the lower numbers. There also appears to be a large stock availability which would negate the need to queue.

The phone, which is the first 4-inch phone to be unveiled since the iPhone 5s and 5c, was unveiled in San Francisco on Monday.

Apple's boss Tim Cook opened the event by revealing there are now one billion active Apple devices globally, and he revealed the Watch price - with its new straps will now be $299 - down from $349.

The iPhone SE is said to have the same performance as the 6S and 'delivers incredible battery improvements'  - although Apple did not give any specifics.

It has a 12MP iSight camera with True Tone flash and can capture 4K video, edit up to 2 streams and has TouchID for Apple Pay built in.
