World Twenty20 : Heartbreak For India As West Indies Win Thriller

Mumbai: Johnson  Charles was at his superb best as he was the one who brought the rhythm at the start. He along with Lendl Simmons stitched a brisk 97-run stand for the second wicket and once he perished Russell and Simmons ended with 2 balls to spare.

Their partnership of 80 of just 39 balls tell the story that running between the wickets wasn't a problem for them as they kept towering a biggie almost every over and with that kept the run rate under their belt.

The match was a real run-fest and boy, West Indies have upset the home side in a stupendous manner. They didn't start off well as the big man, Gayle was cleaned up early on and then Samuels couldn't do much. What came as a surprise package for the West Indies was the landing of Lendl Simmons in the squad. He grabbed the opportunity and to be honest he had luck favoring him all throughout.

Earlier, India's batting sensation Virat Kohli along with Dhoni stitched another valuable partnership of 66 runs  that helped them take the score in excess of 192. West Indies bowlers lost the rhythm in the final few overs and Russell was the most expensive of all. Badree was the best of the lot while rest did their job. So, West Indies have big hitters in their rank and they have chased down such a total in their opening game. Will they do it here again tonight? Or will we see the Indians storming into the finals?

Once Sharma departed, the Indian run-machine stepped in. He lived up to his name yet again and scored a brilliant unbeaten 89. He got lucky very early in the innings and he made the Windies pay for the same. The talking point has to be the running between the wickets. The duo of Kohli-Rahane converted singles into doubles and this indeed has to appreciated.

Brilliant batting effort this from the Men in Blue after being but to bat first. They started off in a stupendous manner as both the Mumbai lads, Sharma and Rahane played sensibly. The former strike the right chords and played an action-packed cameo at the top. He threaded a 62-run stand for the opening wicket with Rahane and that was the first time in the tournament the Indians got a 50-run stand for the opening wicket.
