Gary Alan Coe (right) and his fiancee Vickie Vines (left) stole the show as part of the group of tourists Jimmy Kimmel invited inside the Dolby
Theater during the ceremony Sunday night. The pair made quite an impression as they calmly snapped photos of the celebrities sitting just inches from them, revealed they were engaged and even got fake-married by Denzel Washington.
But the fact that Gary, a native from the South Shore, could attend the ceremony at all seemed like a timing miracle, as he revealed he was released from a California prison right on time after serving two decades for several felonies. It was behind bars that Gary met Vickie and turned to religion. The Chicago pair plan to tie the knot this summer in California.
