BJP has suffered the biggest setback in Chhattisgarh. Three-term Chief Minister Raman Singh of the BJP was trailing in his constituency. As the Congress widened the gap with the BJP in Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh was locked in a tough fight in Rajnandgaon seat, where his rival is Congress's Karuna Shukla, the niece of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Congress was heading for two-third majority in the state leading in 59 seats. BJP was far behind with 24 seats,
Raman Singh is the longest-serving chief minister of the BJP, three years more than Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure as Gujarat chief minister and two years more than Shivraj Singh Chouhan's years in power in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.
In Madhya Pradesh, Congress and BJP are neck-tp-neck both leading on 108 seats . Others are leading on 15 seats,.
Rajasthan has given clear mandate to Congress as per intial trends. Party is leading on 114 seats while ruling BJP is trailing behind the GOP with 81 seats as per initial trends.
K Chandrashekar Rao's move to dissolve the Telangana assembly appears to have paid off handsomely as his Telangana Rashtra Samithi established a huge lead over the Congress-Chandrababu Naidu alliance in the Telangana assembly elections today. The party is leading on of the state's 119 seats, the alliance in 22.
For the Congress and Mr Naidu, a setback in the state will have ramifications for their efforts to forge a united opposition. Mr Naidu has taken on the task of forging a united front for which, a huge 21-party meeting was held in Delhi yesterday.

In far North-East,Mizoram The opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) is leading in 19 constituencies, followed by the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) in eight seats while the ruling Congress is leading in five seats in Mizoram, according to the state election department.
The BJP is leading in one seat in the state that has a 40-member assembly.
Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla is trailing behind ZPM nominee Lalduhoma in the former’s home turf Serchhip in the first round of counting, the election department said.
The CM is also contesting from Champhai South seat.
By noon, final picture is likely to be clear in all the five states.
