Not God, Only Safety Measures Can Save Us from Killer Corona

We are ourselves to be blamed for the unabated spike in corona cases in India. Even God can't save Indian from the deadly virus. To be honest, only vaccine or drug can save people from deadly virus. The other day, I was put to scare by my neighbor in Omega city by holding a religious party (Jagrata) where more than 70 people (including workers), mostly outsiders participated.

Worst, the party was officially given the permission despite strict govt instructions to the contrary. Punjab govt has directed authorities to strictly enforce wearing of masks and social distancing and no big gatherings to be allowed. Any violation of these guidelines and lockdown measures shall be punishable under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as well as under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

And here in my neighborhood just in front of my house, a huge gatherings was without masks and social distancing. The chairs were lined up one after another without an inch of distance and people were sitting very close to each-other leg-by-leg. Such an situation is not allowed even if all participants go corona tests. These days my daughter is staying with me and she is taking all safety measures strictly. I and my wife aren't allowed to move outside and house is fully sanitized at least six times a day. Now she is fuming at this turn of events. All her efforts have been made redundant by the last night gatherings. It will be our great luck if gathering was free of corona carriers.

This not an isolated case. you will find similar cases elsewhere. In the absence of reliable drug or vaccine, only social distancing and wearing of mask could save us from corona. Its everybody duty to enforce the safety measures and those who dare to violate don't deserve to live in society.

We need to remember that 43% of the people who have died from the corona, were between the age of 30 and 60, shows official data. It belies the myth that corona is particularly fatal to the elderly. As the actual toll in India could be much much higher, in the absence of reporting mechanism and tests.

We need to take extra care of our children notwithstanding the fact that nasal epithelium was lowest in younger children. children account for less than two per cent of identified corona cases. However, recently potentially fatal multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) were reported in India, Earlier, such cases were documented in Italy, Spain, UK and the US. Fortunately. MIS-C remains a rarity in India, according to data from the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

However, my neighborhood like event won't prove fatal, there is no guarantee.
