And now at least 103 people, including 13 US soldiers, were killed and more than 143 were injured in multiple explosions outside the Kabul airport on Thursday. Interestingly, the Taliban hasn't suffered any causalities, claimed the group's spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.
Earlier, it was reported that at least 28 Taliban members had been killed in the twin attacks.
The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack outside the Kabul airport. The outfit also released a picture of a suicide bomber that struck the crowded gates of Kabul airport, effectively shutting down the Western airlift of Afghans desperate to flee.
After two explosions within minutes from each other at Kabul airport, two more blasts were reported hours later. As per initial reports, the third was a Taliban vehicle hitting an improvised explosive device in central Kabul.
Kabul airport, is already overshadowed by the echoes of desperate cries of thousands of Afghans attempting to leave the country following the resurgence of Taliban rule.
The latest Kabul attacks are just the the reminder of how terrorism is going to raise its bloody head even in Talibani barbaric rule.
India has already evacuated over 800 people from Afghanistan since August 15. Most of these are Indian nationals and members of the Afghan Sikh and Hindu communities.
Under the Doha agreement, signed between US and Taliban political chief Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, safe passage of all foreigners were agreed upon.
Under the agreement, the Taliban also agreed not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist group to operate in the areas they control. But contrary to the agreement, Islamic State (IS) is freely operating in Afghanistan. The proverb "Kutte Ki Dum Tedhi Ki Tedhi" aptly applies to Taliban rule.
