Aspiring Young Folk Singer Dies Hours After Performing At UTV Fest

An up-and-coming folk singer-songwriter was killed in a tragic accident involving a UTV just hours after she performed on a nearby stage.

Abby Uecker, known musically as Abby Nicole, played to the crowd at Thayer County Fair in Deshler, Nebraska, on Friday and Saturday night.

At 4am on Sunday morning, the 25-year-old musician died after the vehicle she was riding in crashed near the fairground's racetrack. 

She was transported to Thayer County Health Services, but she was pronounced dead a short time later. 

Troopers from the patrol will continue to investigate the incident. 

An online biography stated that the Norfolk native has been performing since she was four. 

She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in theater performance and after, Uecker went to Nashville, Tennessee, and recorded her first single Cool in June 2016.

In March, she told News Channel Nebraska that she planned to move to Music City to concentrate on her music career full time.  

Listed as lead singer for Abby Nicole and County Road and had been performing at fairs across the country, sometimes opening for some bigger acts.  

In December 2014, the singer had been diagnosed with a a brain tumor that she had to get surgically removed and almost hindered her career.

Uecker hoped to 'to share her positive energy and love for life through her music,' and had her next show scheduled on Thursday at the Burwell, Nebraska, rodeo. 

She also had hometown performances scheduled that weekend.
