Nadaun Boy Atharav Thakur Tops HP School Board Class 10 Exam

Dharamsala: Atharav Thakur of Geetanjali Public School Ghalol from the Nadaun area of Hamirpur district scored 98.71% marks to top class 10 board examination, results of which were declared on Monday by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE).

The second position was shared by three students — Paras from Saraswati Vidya Mandir High School, Marhi, in Mandi district; Dhruv Sharma from S Vidya Mandi High School, Namhol, in Bilaspur district and Ridhi Sharma from Anglo Sanskrit Model Senior Secondary School in Mandi district. All three students secured 98.57% marks.

The third position was bagged jointly by Kompal Zinta from Glory International School, Rohru, in Shimla district and Sakshi from Geetanjali Public School, Ghalol, in Hamirpur district. Both scored 98.43% marks.

The board chairman, Suresh Kumar Soni said the overall pass percentage remained at 63.39. The pass percentage has come down by by 4 per cent since last year. Last year, the pass percentage was 67.57.

The pass percentage also went down by 8 in 10+2 examinations results declared recently, as compared to last year.

The board authorities have been claiming that the pass percentage went down owing to the crackdown on copying. The authorities have been maintaining that copying in the examinations was checked due to use of CCTV camera at examination centres.

A total of 1,11,980 candidates appeared in the examinations out of which 67,319 passed.

The chairman said the students who want to apply for re-evaluation or re-checking of their papers can do so by depositing the requisite fee within 15 days of the declaration of results.
