New Delhi: A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan today, with tremors felt in Delhi and neighbouring Haryana and Punjab. The quake was also felt in Jammu and Kashmir.
The quake hit at around 12.40 pm (0707 GMT) near Afghanistan's northern border with Tajikistan in the Hindukush mountains at a depth of 191 kilometres (119 miles), the US Geological Survey said.
Many in the national capital posted on social media that they felt the tremors. The lights shook in television studios.
In Srinagar, people were seen rushing out of buildings and offices in Srinagar.
