As of now after August 5, its advantage Pakistan, not India. As no ball is in our court and we are telling the world leaders " All is Well" in Kashmir. Earlier, it was Pakistan who had to explain, time and again, its position on state sponsored terrorism.
Unfortunately, for saffron leaders subjugating our Kashmiri brethren is justified as they believe majority of them, if not all, are separatists and "Pakistani" supporters. In the process the undercurrent of the "manufactured nationalism" is so intense that all sane voices are being referred to as Pakistani and anti national.
Till a month ago (August 5, 2019), India had clear diplomatic advantage over Pakistan. Modi govt had, greatly. succeeded in pushing Islamabad to the wall . Not only India, United States, Britain, France. Afghanistan and Iran were other nations accusing Islamabad of its involvement in terrorist activities in the region and beyond. Western media has been presenting Pakistan's tribal region along its border with Afghanistan and India as a safe haven for terrorists.
According to an analysis published by the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings Institution, Pakistan was, "with the possible exception of Iran, perhaps the world’s most active sponsor of terrorist groups aiding these groups that posing a direct threat even to the United States. In July 2019, Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan on his official visit to the United States has candidly admitted the presence of 30000-40000 armed terrorists in the country. He revealed that previous governments concealed this truth particularly from the US in the last 15 years.
As such most of the world leaders including US, Britain and France were with India on this issues. Terrorism affects every part of the part and no country can afford to support it. As a natural corollary, almost every country was listening and supporting India including US. Pakistan was running helter-shelter.
However, the scrapping of Jammu & Kashmir special status and downgrading the state into two union territories haven't gone weel with leading world leaders. The move is seen as extreme step by a safforn party to fulfil its cherished agenda. But, world leadrs don't see the move in India's best interests. Kashmir is India's only Muslim majority state and saffron party move on scrapping a Muslim majority special status is seen as enforcement of majoritarian polity and erosion of Kashmitiyat. Moreover, the month long lock down in Kashmir and suppressing of citizens' fundamental and human rights haven't also gone down with democratic countries. Despite Modi govt's "all well" propaganda, the entire world knows what is going on in Kashmir. In the contemporary liberal world, no sane voice will support suppression of human rights.
Honestly speaking. Modi govt latest move on Kashmir hasn't served nation's interest in any way. It has just uplifted the sagging morale of Pakistani leaders , For the first time in recent years, Islamabad has succeeded in diverting world's attention from terrorism to suppression of human rights in Kashmir. Its taking full advantage of the situation and saffron party cheerleaders' utterances are helping Pakistan leaders. Prime Minister Imran Khan is knocking every door to tell what India has done in Kashmir. Sadly for India, world leaders are not turning their back, as they used to earlier on terrorism but listening attentively. All these development bid ominous for India.
