Why To Question The Conferment Of Padam Shri On Artist Adan Sami ?

What is happening in the country on political front right now, certainly, saddens us. The lumpen and ludicrous political jibes being traded at election rallies and public meetings have reached the bottom of the cusp. And in this mad race, no one wants to be left behind.

The latest utterances of the union minister of state for finance, Anurag Thakur transgresses all the limits of political and administrative decency. The other day, overzealous union minister has urged a crowd at an election rally in Delhi to "goli maaro" - or shoot down traitors.

The minister, while campaigning for the BJP candidate in North West Delhi for the February 8 Delhi assembly election, loudly said "desh ke gaddaron ko...", to which the crowd responds "...goli maaro sa***n ko" ("shoot down the traitors who betray the country). As the rally was being video graphed, it has reached Election Commission and he can be reprimanded, if not penalized.

Being a minister, Thakur is expected to honor his oath of holding the constitution and office of minister-ship. His incendiary utterances are highly unbecoming of a minister. He should be hauled up for his utterly provocative speech. But, its not only Anurag Thakur, BJP leaders are known for their "hatred" utterances".

Earlier, BJP candidate, Kapil Mishra, had twitted highly communal and incendiary comments, creating "enmity among classes". Mr Mishra, is the BJP's candidate from the Model Town constituency for next month's Assembly election. He was elected on AAP ticket in last assembly elections but later crossed over to BJP.

Mishra had twitted in Hindi that "Pakistan is entering through Shaheen Bagh, and mini-Pakistans are being created in Delhi...Shaheen Bagh, Chand Bagh, Inderlok. The law is not followed here and Pakistani rioters are occupying the roads".

But why blame BJP leaders? Congress and other opposition leaders are also not far behind. Congress and NCP have slammed Modi govt for conferring Padma Shri on Pakistani-origin singer Adnan Sami. Congress feels looking at Sami’s father’s background, he didn't deserve the highest civil award. Adam Sami's father was a Pakistani Air Force pilot and played a role in 1965 Indo-Pak war.

BJP is right. Why should a son be punished for his father's background. Going by this averment, all sons and daughters of jailed leaders, bizmen and other professions should be punished for their father's sins. Its funniest of the funny stand.

Adan Sami has been conferred the Padam Shree for his outstanding contribution to Indian music. The British-born Indian singer, musician, music composer, pianist and actor performs in Indian and Western music. He has been credited as "the first musician to have played the Santoor and Indian classical music on the piano. His mother is originally from Jammu & Kashmir. He deserved every bit of Padam Shree for his contribution to Indian music.

The contemporary Indian leaders speak in highly political overtones driven by their vested interests. They need to be disciplined and only people can do it.
